WILL THE 3G NETWORK EVER SEE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL COME 2012 ?

Technology seems to circle-up each and every rise of a new innovation. Many can see this to be a circus kind of game but by reality, it's nothing much but a human own kind of intellectual mind speak
Introducing a speculative race brush through, we can find that it was a one line communication structure not forgetting the 2G network/GSM  serving as a water drop in the Technology Communication Industry. Take a look at how various co-operates previewed this as a pit of looses. Back in 2005 no businesses or any out-standing firms made good of the media lines.Right now it's another story, that is syncing & platform porting is the story. No one by then ever foresaw 2G network as a reliable network when it came to day-to-day video communication, quick access to file & web servers, cross-synchronization platform when in office contact ( that is, when dealing with different service providers in this case ). Today 3G has overtaken the scanty 2G network and be-vied in an easier way of working things out especially on this very corporates organizations such as Kenya Air lines, the various banks ground launched within the global corners of the continent's soil & Network delivery INC being the final, have benefited alot as a result. At times the pilots & other relative working staffs had no choice when it came to efficient data delivery. The available network at TOLL was seen to be a blocking mountain to many of the workers especially the high flying pilots. Data and all flight records were seen to be at hand after a 3-2 hrs server syncing struggle. Well with the new 3 rd generation network, everything seems to take volumes in the corporate sectors but with little patch holes left unattended to.
Switching levers to a preferable level, cross-syncing together with video communication have made it better especially when it comes to communication agenda. With a resolution of a 640 by 352 HQ video conferencing has proven volumes to this very best of the so called cooperatives. Business blocks have taken the 3.52 and 3.72 generation network as a prospering haven. pin pointing the big 5 cooperatives giants starting with Safaricom company, Virgin Mobile Industry, Apple INC , Wireles Fidelity Technology company and last but not least the VERI and AT&T providers have taken the 3G network to be the preferable network so far but as we joy ride in the full spectrum of technology engagement, can we consider 3G network a better 3.72 medium network than the 4G LTE network? ( 4th Generation Network )
Come 2012 tecnology together with business indudtries are pursuing a hot paln to usher in the 4G LTE network. What i can say about the coming 4G is that its packed with nemerouse networking principales that will amke each and every business man go " GAGA" with inputs maximised in the long-run. Starting with, advantages like :-

*** Reduced Latency - That is, no video calls delay shall be experienced whenever ( LTE ) network will be introduced. With a 809.11a/b/g router will a also back-up enough bandwidth to chip in a better HD/HQ conferencing

*** Bandwidth Flexibility - I may not say 3G isn't a better one when it comes to porting activity but due to it's non-existance of dynamic routing, a device may at times not give better results during the process but 3G switching will be as a result thus making visuals less clearer than the use of a 4G (LTE)

*** Increased cell capacity - That's it, no analysing subjects under the sun. Many smart phone are known to be power guzzlers, am i wrong?? if yes, then you're outside he loop. I've been utilizing an android smart phone but what kesps me in wrath is the act of power lose especially when switching to WI-FI and HSPDA (High Speed Packet Downlink Access ) or the 3G mode. With the LTE, such instances are a history as packet looping is a not accosiated
be it in battery situation or network accountability. Doesn't this sound good for you ??
Al right, as you've seen, nothing can make me believe 3G is going to be the forgone 2012 network to be relied to. Countdown on me 3-4 weeks times & i'll be analysing more on the under way 4G network. I know many of you have been wondering where the Analyst had vanished to but it's a just that i've been working on a staff to make sure my readers are not mislead with anaything scanty when it comes to technology analysing. It's till next time when we shall meet & intersect much on technology analysing. May you have a blast in the very new usher of the year and a prosperous in giving 2012.

AN INSPIRATION NOT FOR ONE BUT FOR ALL. R.I.P STEVEN JOBS

For all the tech-legends I've been getting to know about and getting to know what they do, i can say jobs has been my best tech guider so far.Even though we haveRichard Branson , to whom most of my inspiration have been lying all through  but an image and motivation that captivated my soul, was from Steven's last speech in Stanford university. " Looking back i thought it was the best decision i ever made." This's the recap of the whole  speech that, not only made my day but changed everything in me concerning the rough times that I've been going, through my journey in technology analyzing & brain storming.

Okey, it may seem ironic to some folks, cause since then Bill gates and Bronson have been my pillar to where all my inspiration were all ripped off from.Steven jobs by then had made a "BOOM" on the so called technology planet but with less concerns on what the tech global was all about. My life with technology can be best portrayed through Steve's last speech in Stanford university when he announced that, a world can never be self-driven if you invent & stay with your gadget without going public for the world to see. This confirms best that, Steven Jobs didn't relay on the idea of "self-mind-maze" but what the world would have made & talked about his geniouse thinking.Take a look on how twitter reaction was then as a result of Job's death & compare it with last terrific moments when he used to introduced his gadgets earlier in California, before releasing them to the market.Take a look at the precious & captivating own made "IPHONE" which made a close hit of about 8.5 billions sale in the closest countries, Netherlands,Carlifonia & even the U.S.This gives jobs a legacy that his gadgets will still sail in the forthcoming years & not be altered or be manipulated by any tech related company.
Gates being a tech-icon too, made a history in the past years but with a single PC in his cabin made him less geniouse compared to Steven Jobs who's pockets were filled with most smart PC's running IPHONE Operating System (  i OS ). Gates could have made & topped Job's doing from the previous introduction of the powerful OS Windows XP & that being packed with numerous service pack kernel, but because of high  seeking expectation, Jobs made me prosper best in everything that i worked on. Previously, on august this year , many people have known me better with different perspectives on-top, some have been hanging on a leaf-let of a bamboo tree. Back in 15th October he left a tendril that will be remembered by many & i being included.."Life is too short & a second of invention can make a billion in the next 2hrs that you utilize it more aggresively".With this words ringing around me, my journey as a future I.T analyst will as well experience trouble & wide out-look of stupid scenario just as other folks think of me, but i asure you that whenever a word is planted, a sentence, a novel & even a library may be as a result & that's what jobs has pundified in me."Stay hungry stay Foolish"

R.I.P STEVEN JOB'S & FOREVER SHALL YOUR INSPIRATION
                                                              CIR-CUM IN ME.

TERRIFIC MOMENTS OF THE CURRENT OPERATING SYSTEMS

Its been long since I tackle & gave a fresh analysis on the issues concerning our current Operating Systems.
Taking a close examination of the HP company, I can say there is nothing much to consider but a well future of the best selling Ipad Operating System. It's just the other day when we had it giving off the finale break on developing WebOs. Something ironic with the decision made futher was that, the company gave out a clean six figure $3.5 dollars U.S money that seemed a break through to the development of the Web or rather palmOS . If you can notice how all this started & how it came to its finale, this definitely tells you where the HP company is heading too. Its this time, that they've given out a hault to PC WEBOS & given a warm welcome to Ipad's WebOS. Come next year, when we'll be experiencing WebOs up the market again. With companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google & ISOLINUX are all left on the arena for seeing better moments of the OS generation.
Name them, like, Googlers, Doodlers or even the Tech jiants but the fact remains that Android together with Chrome OS will always follow Tovarlds for their best. Google have been work-in-hand with Google for captivating give out of the current OS. The U.S multitude have been giving in for this numerous OS hoping that the need of data security would be, but a better embrace for their future assessment. Comparing the company with the legendary Apple INC, I can analyse that Google are yet to step in to their expectation because of different reasons. I've got my fellow geeks whom we've been discussing the issue out, but to my observations many people would opt going for stylish & numerous devices, forgetting the issues on data encryption. Google may never sniff a better angle when indeed competing with Apple INC. Steven jobs has been highly rated ever since 2003-2011 to which Google will never capture their imperial but stare out Apple flying with colourfull raves. Matters concerning data security, I can say Google can never be compared with no other. Take a look at how Android OS's beginning with its earlier versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3.1 & finally 3.1 have been securely imposing great encryption on data storage. As a FUTURE I.T ANALYST, I tend to stress that technology enhancement is self & best suited if security it greatly clinged up to.

JOURNEY OF THE LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM.

Its been a decade since the evolution of the operating systems came about. Anything kept for back-up in those old days were merely creating an exclusive opportunity for a better interaction of the so named VIRUSES.
I may offer big thanks to Linus Tovarlds, the isralite man who invented the ISOLINUX Operating System to which its being ignored in our various markets serving technology gadgets a dream come true. Individuals have been going for Microsoft products including its best forgone OS commonly known as the Windows XP / the service package that others name it. Its true & also a fact that whenever Microsoft introduces anything new to the U.S market no one will lay a distance proximity about the product itself, rather many will be justified to it. Going to various organizations, what captures the eyes if many is the windows XPs OS running on those great & super-fast dual-cores. But the questions which you should get right in hand, are at times contradicting if not well taken of. Why should I get a certain type if Operating System?? Why should I bother introducing an interactive procedure whenever I install the Operating System onto my device?? Does it have a better scheduling & synchronization of data that I want?? Will VIRUSES & the blunt headed hackers have an illegal access onto my device through an head-on installation or other, virtualization?? When all this are answered correctly, then you've got no point but to have the appreciated OS serving on your device with lots of merit on the go.
You may find it contradicting but let me assure you that in the coming technology generation most of these precious devices will all be running a great safety of the ignored LINUX OS. Keeping in mind, you may have the window fly onto your desktop but to my assurance, the individual serving a LINUX world will have a better in you & any other individual serving the same.
Giving it a close view of history, the gentleman ontop, Linus Tovarlds has been experiencing difficulty ever since his 1st evolution of Obuntu OS. He's been working for years, trying to deploy a geek relationship with his suppliers. He 1st created a low resolution of Obuntu OS which gave its initial way in 1992. On the overboard many couldn't predict the moment & when the next could come,as they didn't like the UI together with its non-friendly interaction environment to which it served. In the early 1995 he went wide when he conjucted a better skweeding commanding environment to which the deposition of the world threatening VIRUSES couldn't bag at all. This was the 1st kick-off given to him & the ISOLINUX company itself. Today I can say many gadgets including my spectacular ANDROID phone, runs the ISOLINUX fully, especially when it comes to better & updating CUSTOM ROMS as other folks do. You may seem to know it all, but after going through all this, you'll notice you've been running the best & impressive OS to which I, the FUTURE I.T ANALYST us analyzing at the moment.
Look at this expensive devices like the IPhone. It runs an IOS kind of Operating System, to which am not going to criticize it futher, but have you realize that the caching, installation cylinder & the UI captivating HD buys the full sequence & I may say the best utility drive, come from the so called ISOLINUX ??? Not leaving behind the new made 2-by-2 scale kind of routers together with the Ipads that we luxurious take them for superb interaction, runs also the ISOLINUX cylinder customization. Being the forthcoming future I.T ANALYST I will always encourage & emphasize most that the ISOLINUX OS is scorching under a hasty kind of journey but believe me SIR Tovarlds will be the next supreme master in this tech-globe universe !!!

SMART MINDED INDIVIDUALS WHO MADE THE INTERNET A SUCCESS

I can't imagine the whole world is entirely having a close inch to the pick of technology. Sometimes you may wonder how the whole thing of the so called internet came all about but then you find yourself only to be sniffing at a close edge of what the internet thing is all about. When i was a kid, i knew little actually about internet co-founders but more on the inter-net's greatest platform. How far we've strided, rather, depends on how giants of the Internets world got well on it & had it newly born to the entire name that we call the " INTERNET ".

The gentleman over-their seems rather happy, just by the look of things. We may be aiming to counteract the say " The sky is the Limit " , isn't that true?? but as to my overview of perspective, " Aim at the moon to have your star got well focused beyond it, & that's actually the sky !!,,,,hahaha i may be sounding old in lectures but i can vivid remember that " Old is Gold ". Microsoft founder, by the name Bill gates, he's well known for the huge microsoft cooperation. Being a son of a well known lawyer, he's one but the only & mostfull individuals who stink pretty rich if may say !. During his last conference held in lisbon, he said that, he actually needs a special computer,,,,Got it?? a special computer that could enable him store exclusively, preciouse data related to his family's fortune. It happens that the numbers of his fortune has reached is too big for an ordinary computers like the one we're used to, together with the IRS numerous i Pads & inbound smartphones to accommodate all that staff. As a future analyst i still don't get a vivid picture as to why individuals like them never let even a single of his info sprout beyond their nose & mouth , only to give a better cartel for the future??.Okey, in Kenya we may be having very seriouse & numerouse developers but with poor eviction & integrity to converse out the issue of OS developing, just as it's seen with Gates in the U.S !.Don't judge me wrong anyway anyway cause it's not what somebody aspires to became but only the higher sensation that a person has over something that makes his/her life more interesting & sweeter towards the boarders & edges of a sweet smelling nectar. Early in the 2000, was the year when Gates & his wife Mellinda founded their foundation which was later known as " Bill & Mellinda Gates Foundation ". As a future analyst i may conclude that he's one of the most influential people in the world not living his success inspiring millions of other people working in & out his Domain.
Getting to an interesting level of the internet , actually those who are internet junkies !!, if i may say, these two gentle men made it all over after simple & a few components internet driving utilities were kept at-hand to offer us with the few enlightenment of eradicating illiteracy across the globe. Take for example Bob Khan, the old man in a black official suit & bespectacled to all have him as a computer scientist who finished his studies at MIT in the U.S . He is also well known to have come-up with TCP / IP communicating protocols that made it more vigilant in communication above all cross-talks. It's about 3 years down the line that still i haven't known to introduce various packets with clear accordance to the topology best suited for but funny enough Bob Khan, made it all awesome !!!. In the fall of 1972 he demonstrated the ARPANET ( that's the core set of a network that came to compose the global internet ) by connecting 20 different computers at the International Communication Conference. This actually made people realize that packets switching was just but a good deal of technology. I know some characters may be wondering, why i say all this where as i do nothing where as i do nothing but for your clearer assurance am deeply getting into it day-by-day, ha hah !!!! Excuse me for such a laugh but it's out of mercy that i pity for this characters actually. Okey, not living behind Vint Cerf, the next gentleman taking a closer glance beside Bob Khan, also made the TCP / IP protocols grow in vast distribution when he formally worked for Google & made it's communication a success.Since 2010 Vin Cerf has served as a commissioner for the broad band commission development for digital development & that's a UN  body which aims to make broadband internet technologies more widely available. For sure am all about the staff you've been going through but I'll still give in a lot of stress that as a future I.T  analyst, I'll need to see Kenyan geeks making it right in the coming Vision 2030. Finally there goes off my words to express & it's till my word that a road for our future developers should be well seen under the constructed poody.

MOBILE WEBS VS SMART APPS TECHNOLOGY.

As a future developer, I get asked
my opinion on mobile web vs. rich
app development quite often, and
understandably so. For most mobile
developers, this is one of the very
first questions we face when we
begin planning to build an
application. And to be honest,
there’s really no “correct” answer to
the question. If I absolutely had to
break it down to a couple distinct
criteria, the decision would likely be
based on the following:
OS/Hardware-specific feature
requirements
Development budget
Development timeline
Target audience
Before I get too much further, I feel
I ought to explain that a vast
majority of my mobile development
experience has been with Android,
so you’ll likely find that most of my
examples revolve around it. With
that in mind, let’s carry on.
OS/Hardware-specific
feature requirements
HTML5 and native mobile browsers
are quickly getting to the point
where the gap is quickly closing
between what can be accomplished
from inside a browser vs. what can
be done from a native (rich)
application. However, there is still
one significant feature that separates
the two in my opinion: push
notifications.
I’m not very familiar with the push
notification system for iOS, but I
have implemented Cloud-to-Device
Messaging (C2DM) for Android
several times, and it is incredibly
useful for server-to-device
communication. You can use them
to get a device to “call home,” start a
process running on the device, or
even deliver a short message. The
only feature that comes close to this
in HTML5 is the WebSocket. But if
the user closes the browser, your
channel of communication is
severed.
Another reason why you might
choose to build a rich app is
because your requirements demand
a long-running service that persists
in the background. A background
service may be needed for indefinite
location tracking, device monitoring,
or lengthy calculations/processes.
One of the features I like most about
Android as a developer is the way
intents were designed. Intents allow
you to not only integrate other
applications into your own, but also
integrate your application into
others. A good example of the prior
scenario would be launching a thrid
party barcode scanner application
from within your own app and
receiving a UPC code back. As far as
the latter situation is concerned,
many apps will allow you to “share”
content with other apps, so it’s
possible to get your app to appear
in the list of possible choices (for
instance “sharing” a place from
within Google Maps). This unique
interoperability is definitely a very
strong case to build a native Android
application over a web app.
Development budget and
timeline
I doubt there are very many
developers out there who’d
disagree with me when I say that
mobile web development is grossly
cheaper than developing a native
rich app. Granted, 95% of my
development experience is web
development, so it’s fair to say that
it’s what I know best. However, the
fact that you can develop once and
automatically target every web-
enabled platform is quite a powerful
one. Compare this to developing,
say, an Android, iPhone, and
Blackberry app separately, and it’s
easy to see the advantage here.
As far as development timeline is
concerned, I don’t think I need to
say much more. Obviously
developing one web app is quicker
than developing multiple rich apps,
so let’s move along.
Target audience
OK, I’ll admit it. I’m an Android
fanboy. So when I first started doing
mobile development, I completely
neglected iOS and only focused on
Android. No wait, let me try that
again. I completely thumbed my
nose at iOS and all my iOS-using
friends. It didn’t take me long,
however, to realize that if I was
really serious about being a full-time
mobile developer, I simply could not
ignore one of the top two mobile
OSs, no matter how much I
disagreed with Apple’s philosophy or
believed in Android’s success.
So, the easiest and quickest thing for
me to do was develop a mobile web
site for my iOS-toting friends. The
result was actually quite impressive,
as I had created a nearly identical
copy of my Android app for the web
using webkit transforms via some
javascript I found/borrowed/
modified for my own purposes, to
create independently scrolling areas
(something that is not easy to
accomplish with mobile web).
At first, my peers were pleased that
they now had a way to use an app
they had been begging me to port
for months. But as soon as the
novelty wore off, they quickly
realized that the mobile web version
just wasn’t quite as slick as a native
rich app could be. Even though they
could create a bookmark on their
home screen to make it appear as a
native app, the differences were still
noticeable (namely the lack of push
notifications, which I get around by
sending emails).
Conclusion
Now I’ve presented a select few
arguments on both sides of the
case. Clearly there are a lot more
factors that go into this decision, but
I feel like the ones I’ve mentioned
have been the biggest determining
factors in my own personal choices.
There really is no right or wrong
answer at this point, and at the rate
the mobile tech industry is evolving,
everything I have just said may be
moot tomorrow.
As things stand today, I feel that the
best approach is to target both
mobile web and rich apps if all your
determining factors allow for it. But
this is clearly a subject that will need
consistent reevaluation as time
progresses. Eric Schmidt himself has
been quoted as saying “HTML5 is
the way almost all applications will
be built, including for phones” so
I’m confident in saying this is a topic
to keep your eye on.
On a final note, I encourage
everyone reading this article to
watch this video if the subject matter
discussed piques your interest. It’s
the Android vs HTML5 session from
Google I/O and I discovered while
writing this article that it was
uploaded to Youtube, as it was not
streamed live from Google I/O.
Hopefully I have answered a few
questions for you, and if not feel
free to sound off in the comments!

KENYA AS THE FIRST INCUBATION CENTER WHEN IT COMES TO TECHNOLOGY ENHANCEMENT.

Kenya has been selected as the home
of the first of five incubation centres
around the world that aim to promote
a knowledge-based economy.
The new hub named m:Lab was
launched on Thursday with the aim of
creating a new space for Kenyan
developers to collaborate on
developing applications for mobile
phones.
Kenya was selected due to the
country’s rising profile as a software
development hub.
The development means that Kenyan
SMEs in the sector will now be have
access to a 13 million Euro kitty over
the next two years to fund their
growth.
The joint partnership between
infoDev, a donor-funded ICT for
development agency hosted by the
World Bank, the Finnish Foreign
Ministry and Nokia, will provide the
funding for the initiative.
“We are helping businesses improve
value in the sectors that have the
most potential to contribute jobs and
exports – for Kenya, this means ICT,
agri-business and tourism,” said
Johannes Zutt, country manager for
the World Bank.
The programme brings together three
tracks – mobile application
development, business incubation
and technology entrepreneurship –
together with a supporting track of
analytical work in the field of ICTs and
Innovation Systems in Agriculture.
Information PS Bitange Ndemo said
the country was hoping to push the
contribution of the ICT sector past
agriculture to being the country’s most
significant GDP producer.
“We aim to raise the contribution of
ICTs to the economy from the current
Sh5 billion to over Sh25 billion in the
next five years, and to do this, we
must put in place sustainable
solutions to enable the growth of
SMEs in the sector,” said Mr Ndemo.
Analysts say the technology sector has
increasingly been driven by an
emerging middle-class population
with potential to buy smart phones as
well as rising industry investments by
players.
Demand for mobile apps presents a
huge potential for developers, brands
and end-users but players will need
to invest time and resources if they are
to fully gain from the fast-growing
mobile marketing global industry,
expected to be worth Sh1 trillion (US
$17.5 billion) by 2012.
“Mobile application marketing is a
rapidly growing engagement and
advertising channel for local and
international brands today. Increase
in use of apps by young population
and emerging middle-class is spurning
an unprecedented growth which may
help companies focus on more eye-
balls of their target markets in a totally
new dimension,” said Mr Oyolla.
Locally, the growth of mobile internet
subscription coupled with a significant
adoption of smart phones are key
factors driving the mobile application
segment in Kenya. In its January 2011
report, Communications Commission
of Kenya (CCK) noted between July
and September 2010 that 98 per cent
of the Internet market share being
through mobile devices.
“In the end, we expect to have win-
win situation. Developers will have full
local support to develop and sell in a
global marketplace to millions of
consumers while brands will be able
to engage their customers via
immersive mobile apps for continuous
relevance and loyalty,” said Mr Oyolla.

REASONS AS TO WHY YOU SHOULD BUILD YOUR OWN PC.

Why would you still want to build your
own PC today?
There are a proliferation of desktop
PCs, Laptops, Notebooks, Netbooks,
and Tablet PCs on offer that not only
give great performance but also come
packaged in various impressive styles,
formats and sizes to suit the vast
majority of PC owners’ wants and
needs.
Today’s PC is without a doubt a very
‘Personal Computer’! There are
computers aimed at gaming, video
and photo editing, quiet PCs, Media
Center PCs, PCs with remotes. Why
would you even consider building
your own PC!
Not only that but the media are telling
us that Laptops, Netbooks, Notebooks
and Tablet PCs are taking over and the
desktop PC is on its way out….. but is
that really the case?
Well sure, today’s choice of ready-built
off-the-shelf PCs is truly fantastic. But,
great leaps and bounds have also
been made in the PC components
market too. After all, that’s how we
have such a vast selection of ready
built PCs on offer!
Component wise there are so, SO
many really impressive pieces of kit
out there for any budget and I still
firmly believe it makes perfect sense to
spend a little time designing the
perfect custom built PC to suit your
needs and then creating this beauty
with your own fair hands.
Hey buddy, why would I want to do
this with all that’s on offer straight off
the shelf? Heck, I can pop down to my
local store, select, purchase, take it
home and be up and running in no
time at all!
Well, yes that’s true, but in the long
term, I still believe there are many
valid reasons to build your own
computer.
So why do I believe this? Why should
you go to all the effort and hassle of
building your own computer?
Well, quite simply, you will get exactly
what you want for how much you
want and you will end up with a PC
that is tailored precisely to your own
personal requirements and budget
that you will be able to upgrade when
you want in the future.
Manufacturers of retail PCs can force
component suppliers to ridiculously
low margins meaning that they have
to save on quality to satisfy the
consumer’s demands for cheaper and
cheaper systems.
Yes, there are people out there who
will do all of this for you for a small
price. But, if you do this all yourself
you will end up with a PC that you
personally know inside out, will be
able to fault find and repair yourself
should the need arise, have individual
guarantees for each and every
component that makes up your PC
and know what parts to change when
you next want to upgrade.
Personally, I have two desktop PCs on
the go at any one time, one for
current use and the other in the
background for swapping over with
after completing a new build or
upgrade thereby never losing the use
of my main PC.
I have only ever bought one ‘off the
shelf’ desktop PC, the rest have all
been built myself – once you’ve done
this for yourself you will get such a
kick out of it you will never want to go
back to purchasing a ready made
system – believe me!
A lot of people are switching over to
laptops for their main PC and there is
no denying that they are very handy –
I have a couple myself which I
regularly use for on the move,
business or casual computing.
However, you cannot beat a good
quality desktop PC setup for getting
down to some serious work or
gaming. Nice comfortable desk and
chair, large desktop mounted monitor
adjusted with the top of the screen
level with your eyes, ergonomic or
gaming keyboard, responsive mouse,
awesome graphics cards, fast hard
drives and always up to date
performance wise – heaven!
And how quickly does that nice shiny
new laptop become outdated and no
longer suit your needs?
There are no real options for
upgrading one of these beyond
memory and drives… and if you are a
serious user you’re going to want to
upgrade on a regular basis.
There are lots of online resources for
helping you build your own computer
so you will not be on your own when
it comes to anything you are not sure
about – so don’t be afraid… give it a
go why don’t you!
So let’s look at the Top 5 reasons for
building your own computer shall
we…..
1. Future Proofing
Selecting a quality case and power
supply are key elements of a future
proof PC. Many off the shelf retail PCs
will, especially in the case of the
power supply, use lower quality
components that are not likely to have
anywhere near the lifespan of a
quality unit. Plus, the power supply
ratings of many are dubious to say
the least.
With a quality case and high power
rating quality power supply you are all
set for a future upgrades without
needing to replace these long lasting
components which you should find
will last you for a good 7+ years. The
author has many PCs built like this
with quality power supplies and has
never experienced a failure and a
couple of these are now close to or
beyond 10 years old!
A quality case will also be much more
flexible than the typical type that retail
PCs use even though I must admit
some of the retail cases are
exceptionally aesthetically pleasing to
the eye.
Typically, though, there is little room
for adding another graphics card or
upgrading the present card with a
high end extended height / length
GPU.
2. Motherboard
Retail PCs tend to use low end
motherboards tailored specifically for
the high volume retail PC vendor and
are generally less easy to upgrade,
have poor support and are difficult to
locate drivers for etc., although the
processor should be fine as a quality
AMD or Intel part will still be fitted
whatever the motherboard make.
Even good ‘Named Brand’
motherboards destined for retail PCs
will tend to be tailored for high
volume and made to a price and
specifically tailored for the retail PC
manufacturers.
Also the BIOS can be very limited on
pre-built machines and you may well
be locked out of many functions such
as overclocking etc.
3. Bloatware
A particular hate for many of us is the
pre-installed bloatware that seems to
come with every retail PC and is
generally a pain.
A clean fresh install of Windows 7
from your own installation disk will
give you a much nicer computing
experience, no unwanted advertising
software and adware
Also, increasingly, there is no system
disk supplied – the installation
software complete with all of the
advertising and bloatware is stored on
a hard drive partition and should you
need to carry out a repair or reinstall
it will just load all of this rubbish back
on.
It has got to be much better to install
your own and have a proper backup
disk and no adware.
4. Warranty and Support
This is generally a very painful drawn
out process if you should happen to
suffer a problem with long extended
phone calls trying to obtain support –
at least if you purchase your own
component parts they will all come
with their own warranties and you will
be able to swap out or replace them
yourself with no hanging around
waiting for support at the whim of
your supplier.
And, if you want to upgrade at any
time there are no problems with the
guarantee not being honored
because you have been inside your PC
invalidating the warranty!
5. Your Own Creation
The best reason of all has to be that
it’s all been put together with your
own fair hands
Boy does that feel good eh!
The sheer pleasure and satisfaction it
brings on successfully completing
your first build
You will come to know all about the
inner workings of your PC and you will
have chosen the components and
how your PC looks and it will all be
exactly to your very own specification.
In Conclusion
Upgrading is far easier generally with
a PC you have built yourself as you will
have created it with a future upgrade
in mind and will not be frustrated by
graphics cards that won’t fit in the
space available, power supplies that
haven’t got the required connector
type or output power capability or
RAM that simply won’t work in the
retail manufacturers motherboard as
you can’t identify what the heck it is!
You will be able to choose quality
hand picked components, not parts
made to a price.
Also you will have the ability to choose
your monitor and get a quality screen
rather than a monitor made for the
masses.
If your computer breaks down you
will now be aware of what goes on
inside and with a little online research
and help should be up and running
again in no time at all.
You won’t save money purely down to
economies of scale – the retail
manufacturer buys in high volume
and can purchase at much better
prices than you can but you will still
be able to build yourself a much
higher quality PC for the same price.
By spending time researching the
components required to build your
own computer you will gain an
understanding of how your PC works,
how it does what it does and how to
fix it if it should go wrong.
You can configure your machine in
ways that will not be available on
retail PCs such as maybe using a solid
state hard disk drive for your
operating system and a large
mechanical hard disc drive for storing
all of your data etc.

THE CUTTING EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY.

Safaricom is seeking to boost its
income from data business by training
engineering students on latest
technology in the sector in
partnership with Chinese
telecommunications equipment
manufacturer, Huawei.
The two firms will collaborate with the
University of Nairobi, Moi University
and Jomo Kenyatta University of
Agriculture and Technology to review
their curriculum to match market
demands.
The three-year deal is expected to
benefit students and lecturers from
the institutions by training them at
Huawei’s facility on Mombasa road in
Nairobi. “African education system
has been criticised in the past for
being too outdated in that there are
gaps between what is learned in class
and what the industry needs to catch
up with the rest of the world” said, Li
Dafeng the Huawei President for
Eastern and Southern Africa.
Safaricom is expected to offer hands
on job training on latest GSM
technologies and provide market for
local mobile software applications
developed by the students as part of
the deal.
Safaricom will market the mobile
software applications through its
portal Safaricom Live and share the
revenue on an agreed ratio.
“We, recognise that Safaricom can’t
remain static as a provider of pure
connectivity; a seller of the dumb pipe.
We have to move up the data value
chain and we shall be coming to you,
the universities, to map out areas we
can further our partnership, especially
in E-learning and E-health,” said Mr
Nzioka Waita, Safaricom director of
corporate affairs.
The local mobile software application
industry is at its nascent stage of
development but has attracted more
than 3,000 developers stationed at
Ihub and M-Lab, an information
technology incubation centre on
Ngong Road, Nairobi. Globally the
mobile application download
currently dominated by Google’s
Android and Apple is valued at more
than $15 billion. It is this market that
technology firms are eyeing.
The Information PS Bitange Ndemo
said such partnerships should be
encouraged. “Technology changes
every day and for students to remain
relevant in the job market or in their
own entrepreneurial endeavours they
require modern training facilities,” said
Dr Ndemo.

READING BEYOND THE LINES OF TECHNOLOGY.

Well, mobile technology can be redefined as a better pathway in leading an individual's life to death & as well to health problems too.
Going through Dr.volkow's articles last week, I'll managed to learn that RF (radio frequency) emitted by these technological gadgets made a 95% brain energy reaction. This does not only give out brain energy besides, cancer may come out as a result. Researchers all, around the world have been sidelining the issue of phone or other effects of the current technology, making it more harmful & frightening situation ever seen.Dr volkow denies the issue of alarming out the said parplexed issue, but as to my view of perspective, I recommend it be raised off to the public for individual to get awakened about it. As they say; " No prosperity is attained when negativity is embraced ",but according to my view, negative environment is just but a stepping stone to a better healthy living sorrounding.
Technology is there, for the good, but at times it's better when we sieve the effective forces sorrounding it's nature, by upgrading the level of intelligence that one attains. Maybe you can try to imagine how all these new assembled gadgets that we have merry with, may at times be hostile if not felt with. With my close examination on our field of technology, i happened to realise that we mostly lie to the dark side & not the informed, speculated brighter side. For instance you may the gadgets lined-up below, different levels of radio frequency depending on their board technology:
1.) MEDICAL X-RAY >>> 10 > 20HZ
2.) TANNING BOOTH >> 10> 16HZ
3.) HEATING LAMP >>>> 10> 14HZ
4.) MICROWAVE >>>>>> 10> 10HZ
5.) CELLPHONE >>>>>> 10> 10HZ
6.) TELEVISION >>>>>> 10> 6HZ
7.) RADIO >>>>>>>>>> 10> 4HZ
8.) POWERLINES >>>>> 10> 2HZ

Accordingly to Dr.volkow, research made between 1993-2009 have revealed indefinite history that the minded phones or cell phones give. They carried a vain research with relative to cell phone usage above 4 hrs, gave out a 95% of brain energy while below gave 55% of the same. They found out that 10-14 HZ of RF emmited by phones tend to split the strong bonds held together on each other & thus distabalizing its chemical balancing, hence resulting to brain tumor.
Running up the finale brain scan, they discovered that one could have different dysfunction occurring as a result of cell phone-radiation & its frequency. These could be
- headaches.
- insomnia.
- depression.
Concluding this message, what I can urge the technology, is that industry to health oriented before rushing unknowingly to fast riches. Which may later be causing more than good to the society. As living to a healthier environment, will definitely lead to a healthier technology industry, serving its best to it's users.

GOOGLE INTRODUCES A NEW OS WITH SINGLE PLATFORM TO DEVELOPERS.

Recently, Google announced a
revamped version of Android
operating system named Ice Cream
Sandwich.
The idea in Google’s labs is clearly
demonstrated in the software
capabilities.
Ice Cream Sandwich is a system that
will power both android phones,
tablets of all sizes and any other
android mobile device.
The Android OS versions have a
notable naming style that follows the
alphabet and names of edible
goodies.
At Google’s Android labs, letters C, D,
E, F, G, H and now letter ‘I’ respectively
stand for, Cupcake, Donut, Éclair,
Foroyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb,
and Ice Cream Sandwich.
For Kenyan customers, the taste of
‘Foroyo’ is quite evident from the
Android gadgets like the Samsung
Galaxy Tab and the Android smart
phones.
The performance of ‘Foroyo’ or
Android Version 2.2, which runs the
Galaxy Tab, has placed the gadget in a
very competitive position in the tablets
race. Besides, there are expectations
of ‘Honeycomb’ later this year.
The simple goal behind Google’s Ice
Cream Sandwich is an operating
system that works well on any mobile
device.
Technically, the move to develop it
has a genesis in the pains of
fragmentation that dogs new version
of Android.
Google has more than 300 models of
Android devices that run on eight
different versions of Android OS.
Among them are, the Samsung Galaxy
Tab 1000, an array of Android smart
phone and the Huawei S 7 tab, which
are available in the Kenyan market.
A unified operating platform like the
Ice Cream Sandwich has a greater
appeal to the palates of developers
and consumers.
Software developers for smart devices
are sensitive to the future of the
particular device and version of
operating system.
The Android family has OS versions
like ‘honey comb’ specifically for
tablets, ‘Gingerbread and ‘Éclair’ for
mobile phones, ‘Foroyo’ ,and Donut
among others, with each version
having been designed for a specific
line of gadgets.
In the Android ecosystem, the earlier
versions do not support a number of
features and Apps hence reducing the
extra functionalities.
The idea of a single platform is a big
step into Google’s future and
competitive survivability.
Ice Cream Sandwich will bring a
number of features to android devices
while at the same time addressing the
trouble of fragmentation amongst the
various Android versions.
Some which come along with the new
version include, superior multitasking
capabilities, streamlined user
interfaces (UI), scalable widgets,
diverse multimedia support, USB
hosting and Near Field
Communication integration among
others.
The new Operating System will also
allow the common utilisation of
features and Apps that had initially
been dedicated to Android 2 and
Android 3- based devices.
As seen from Apple’s growing pains
with iOS, the remedy for operating
system (OS) fragmentation is critical
for the entire ecosystem of
developers, consumers and device
manufacturers.

CLOUD TECHNOLGY FINALLY TAKES ROOT. ' interesting '

As Patrick ngaro says "when technology attains a single percentage in it's rise, financial a creadibility as well intergrates to the fullest regardless the terms expenditures.Looking forward to the U.S,Google team came up with an advanced technology which counteracts the information it's feed with as persons registry is automatically done.Today I may say we are the best leading country when it comes in steaming different areas of technology in every way we manage to attain / archive it.
Institution like MWALIMU SACCO & single mwananchi have revealed everything, portraying their essence in technology. Just a few but majority haven't showed any interest in intergrating the latest introduced technology with what they have
Sometimes I view all this as ignorance & furthermore, a freaky kind of situation diminishing what the youths could do.If we have tha government ensuring the easy running of the current businesses, then not at all shall we talk of Kenyans being exploited financially. Never !
In the corse of this month, iHub - Nairobi will be ushering new ways, strategies & plans on how to work hand-in-hand with the latest technology with lot's of hope that my fellow citizens won't let me crippled by attending & be projected widely on what the county's sees positive / negative in this new error of technology.
Finally the cloud technology kind of idea is shaped up to facilitate a better DD (double density ) kind of institution for future examination references with which high level of enterprise will be seen to root out.

The commercial value of unlicensed
software installed on personal
computers in Eastern and Southern
Africa (ESA), which excludes South
Africa, reached $109 million in 2010 as
83 per cent of software deployed on
PCs during the year was pirated.
This stands at almost double the
global piracy rate for PC software,
which is 42 per cent, having risen by
3.6 points on the previous five year
average.
These are among the findings of the
Business Software Alliance (BSA) 2010
Global Software Piracy Study, which
evaluates the state of software piracy
around the world.
During the past 5 years since 2006,
Botswana’s piracy rate has dropped
by 2 per cent; Kenya’s by just 1 per
cent; while Zimbabwe’s rose by one
per cent in 2008, but returned to the
2006 rate of 91 per cent in 2010.
Zambia’s piracy rate has remained
unchanged year over year. Meanwhile,
Zimbabwe’s piracy rate of 91 per cent
is the second highest in the world.
“These findings show that little
progress has been made in reducing
the software piracy rate in East and
Southern Africa and there is much
more work to be done,” said Dale
Waterman, chair, BSA Middle East and
Africa Committee, and also the
Microsoft’s Corporate Attorney for
Anti-Piracy for the Middle East and
Africa region.
“The further we reduce software
piracy, the better it will be for the
region’s economies.”
Globally, the opinion survey found
strong support for intellectual
property rights, with seven in 10
respondents expressing support for
paying inventors for their creations to
promote more technology advances.
Strikingly, support for intellectual
property rights was strongest in
markets with high piracy rates.
The survey also found widespread
recognition that licensed software is
better than pirated software, because
it is understood to be more secure
and more reliable.

BUILDING YOUR OWN ? ELEVATE TO SOMETHING NEW THIS TIME ROUND.

The ultimate DIY computer project
06 May 11 08:38 GMT
By Mark Ward
Technology correspondent, BBC News
Some people like to build their own
computers. A smaller number like to
modify them to boost the speed of
the processor and make them more
powerful.
Then there is an elite for whom building
a modern PC is mere tinkering. Instead,
they opt for the much more difficult task
of building their own microprocessor
from individual components.
They make it easier for themselves by
emulating the relatively low-powered
processors found in the first personal
computers.
That's a sensible step given that the
microprocessors inside a contemporary
PC have millions, if not billions, of
transistors on board. Wiring or
soldering those would take several
lifetimes.
Parts list
But that takes nothing away from the
complexity of building a processor from
parts. Even a simple one can take
months, often years, to put together.
One of the first to do a DIY processor
was Bill Buzbee who made one from
TTL logical chips, 74 of them in all.
Before microprocessors were invented,
early computers used scores,
sometimes hundreds of simple
integrated circuits wired together to
create a central processing unit. Such
systems are known as Transistor to
Transistor Logic (TTL)
"Back in the 70s when I first got
involved in computers and electronics,
TTL chips were what people used, so
that's what I turned to," said Mr
Buzbee.
Despite starting his working life as a
journalist, he became a programmer
and embarked on the task to firm up his
knowledge of how hardware worked.
"It started out to be a very small project
and it grew to something much more
elaborate," he said.
Help and advice came from the many
people who found his project blog, a
journal he used to organise his
thoughts about how to build the
processor and incorporate that into a
working computer.
"I have had a lot of help, most of it
unsolicited, from electrical engineers,"
he said.
Some of the parts for what would
become Magic-1 were bought
specifically for the job. But, true to the
DIY philosophy, many others were lying
around in Mr Buzbee's home.
Using store-bought and found
components, the design for the
machine evolved organically.
"It's not so much that I designed the
computer and got the parts for that," he
said. "I designed around what parts I
had."
As it turned out, building the processor
and its associated hardware was just
part of the challenge. The novel
machine needed feeding with software,
including a compiler and assembler, if it
was to do anything useful.
"The biggest part of the job by far was
all the software," he said. "The vast
majority of the time was doing that."
Was it time well spent?
"I learned a fantastic amount," he said,
"I came into it with a reasonably good
knowledge, but this opened up a lot of
areas that I did not have much
exposure to."
Mr Buzbee had the foresight to video
the first working test of Magic-1 and his
exclamation of "Outstanding!" as the
machine does what it is supposed to
sums up the project and its results.
Making machines
The trail blazed by Mr Buzbee has been
followed by many others.
Computer scientist Dr Harry Porter built
his 8-bit machine from relays -
electronic switches that are even
simpler than the transistors used in
Magic-1. Despite this, the machine has
all the bits you would expect to find in a
smaller processor.
Relays are also a good deal bigger than
transistors so the Relay Computer
occupies four large wooden cabinets
and makes a rhythmic clickety-clack
racket when its 8-bit might is being used
to crunch numbers.
One of the most recent homebrew
CPUs is the Big Mess o'Wires (BMOW)
made by Steve Chamberlin from a
whole lot of logic chips. Like many of
the other DIY processor folks, he
started small but. Over time, the design
and his ambitions for it grew.
"My goal was only to tinker around with
digital electronics projects of the sort I
remembered fondly from university
days," he said, adding that he expected
that once it was built he would program
and play with it via a terminal window
connection to a modern PC.
"After I got the basics working, though,
I kept revising my goals and adding
more and more external systems," he
said.
The finished BMOW has a keyboard,
VGA video, audio and is programmed
using Basic.
"BMOW grew into a stand-alone
computer system, independent of any
PC, and roughly similar in capabilities to
8-bit computers of the early 1980s," he
told the BBC.
The journey from bits to finished
computer taught him a huge amount
about how computers work and the
challenges that faced those early
computer makers.
"I feel I have a much better
appreciation for what it must have been
like when Steve Wozniak designed the
original Apple, or other homebrew
systems of the day," he said.

ANTICIPATION OF VISION 2030.

Its just a few years to come when we will be turning the page to >>>> vision 2030. Our country Kenya is well known to produce vast of nation I.T career men and women but the question remaining is weather we will be attaining a better goal as MUGO KIBATI,the chairman of vision 2030 puts it.very few of our I.T analyst sit back enjoying the less paying salary kind ofbjob, while majority leave the country for the same.
Technology in Kenya can only be described as a fainting goose trying to capture it's last moments in life just as the recent ''African-technology'' is described.By the introduction of counties, I may like to say that a lot can be done if only we get interested, think out of the box & stay focused on what is aimed at ( vision 2030 ) take for example, the county of Mombasa, it's the widest area seemed to have fantastic scenario by the nature of it's view, yes !,but less technology stride has been archived so far.Nairobi county, though much insecured but captivative volume of technology seen at hand.Very hardworking business men & women to emphasize more on the current technology. The county is as well seen to potray escalation actions on goods and services as the ' financial giant ' is going circustic on what the county is experiencing so far.NO SMART TECHNOLOGY, THEN BE AT LOGGER-HEADS WITH THE GOVERNMENT,and its a fact." Viewing at different places since last year,I thought that Kenya should be leading internationally and no across this simple continents",head of African technology says but as for me,I stress that we can overshadow what we have so far to improve the the written heading, hence facilitating smooth running in the coming VISION 2030.
As a conclusion, with great asurity that, you've got the clear picture of what I mean when we say VISION 2030 ,I'LL only finalize that with ; Perserviarance.
interest
Strategy &
Loyalty,
then we can make a ship sail to it's destination without traces of ignorance altering the strategised VISION 2030.
